About the Role
This is a Manager role in Record to Report (RTR). The position is responsible for managing the entire general accounting, reporting and financial closing function for Harman globally. This role will partner with Finance leaders and business partners to implement accounting, reporting and closing processes that meet Harman’s current and future requirements. This position is accountable for reviewing and approving financial accounting statements and responsible for cost accounting, accounting operations and supporting and adequate internal control structure. Accurate and timely closing of month end.

What You Will Do
Work with global teams geographically and across all Harman businesses

Perform daily tasks independently and provide oversight and guidance to direct reports

Collaborate cross-functionally within and outside finance organisation

Provide back-up for direct reports and for the line manager

Ensures accurate and timely transaction accounting practice

Oversee general ledger accounting and reporting activities for companies in scope in Harman’s global organization

Provide management oversight for closing processes under IFRS, SEGAM principles and various local GAAPs as applicable

Ensures finance support regarding the close practice to different stakeholders

Primary point of contact for all external audit activities related to the financial statements under US and local GAAP

Manages the support of financial analysis in the various functional areas (sales, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, business units, and G&A)

Responsible to ensure COPA closing is performed on time. (where applicable)

Act as a point of reference for executive leadership in questions around general ledger accounting, closing and reporting activities

Formalize global standards for closing and reporting activities

Establish and maintain an outstanding internal control environment

Act as a key project stakeholder in SAP-FI projects

What You Need to Be Successful
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with higher accounting knowledge

CA / MBA from Tier 1 universities will be an added advantage

12+ years of professional experience

7+ years of people management experience

Strong accounting knowledge, good understanding of US GAAP and IFRS

Strong interpersonal skills with stakeholders and other colleagues

Good understanding of Chart of accounts, cost objects

Strongly demonstrate ownership qualities in the function you lead

Strong communication and presentation skills

Excellent MS office suite skills (Excel, PPT, Word)

Bonus Points if you Have
IFRS certification / ACCA / CMA / CPA / CFA

Working experience in SAP and/or a consolidation tool (One Stream) is a plus

Attention to detail, analytical, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills

Ability to effectively work across functional boundaries to bring tasks to successful conclusion

Coming in with a Transformation mindset and the ability to challenge status quo

What Makes You Eligible
Be willing to travel internationally occasionally if required

Be willing to work in an office; this role is eligible to work remotely up to full-time with occasional trips into the other office location required (this could be on 24-hour notice)

Successfully complete a background investigation and an occupational health screening (may include a drug screen) as a condition of employment
