Position Overview

As a Lead Data Scientist at arenaflex, you'll be responsible for driving data science initiatives that accelerate business productivity, enhance operational efficiencies, and deliver exceptional customer experiences. You'll play a pivotal role in advancing our high-performance analytics infrastructure that informs critical business decisions by applying deep expertise in both business strategy and advanced analytical modeling techniques.

This leadership role offers the unique opportunity to specialize in one or more cutting-edge data science domains, including optimization, computer vision, recommendation systems, search algorithms, or natural language processing (NLP). You'll be at the forefront of identifying business opportunities where data science can provide a competitive advantage, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to transform raw data into actionable intelligence.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Development & Improvement (30%)


  • Design and develop sophisticated algorithms and models to analyze large datasets and extract meaningful business insights

  • Select appropriate analytical methodologies and apply advanced statistical techniques to solve complex business challenges

  • Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical leadership and business partners

  • Clearly articulate the business impact of analytical recommendations to drive strategic decision-making and successful implementation

  • Develop scalable solutions that can be replicated and applied across multiple business units

Project Management & Team Leadership (25%)


  • Lead and manage large-scale, complex data science projects and cross-functional teams

  • Provide strategic guidance on work prioritization and ensure exceptional quality of deliverables

  • Mentor and coach junior data scientists and team members to enhance their technical capabilities and career growth

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment of project goals with organizational objectives

  • Contribute to staffing decisions and participate actively in the recruitment and hiring process

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or more data science methodologies, including both predictive and prescriptive analytics

  • Lead data science communities of practice across multiple business units

Business Collaboration (20%)


  • Leverage deep business knowledge to inform solution strategy and analytical approaches

  • Build strong trust-based relationships with internal clients and cross-functional partners

  • Provide technical guidance and training on advanced analytics methodologies to the broader data science community

  • Partner with IT teams to evaluate emerging tools and maintain technical agility for data science initiatives

  • Proactively identify new business opportunities where data science can deliver competitive advantages

  • Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders on data-driven decision-making

Technical Research & Innovation (25%)


  • Stay current with emerging technologies and methodologies by attending industry conferences and publishing research papers

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data science practices through development of replicable solutions

  • Create comprehensive documentation, including data products, project documentation, and process flowcharts

  • Define best practices and develop a clear vision for data analysis and model productionalization

  • Own the library of reusable algorithms and ensure all code and models are thoroughly documented for future use

  • Develop expertise in one or more advanced prescriptive modeling techniques, including optimization, computer vision, recommendation systems, search, or NLP

  • Drive innovation by exploring new analytical approaches and technologies

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related quantitative field

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, data mining, and data analysis

  • Strong proficiency in applying statistical techniques to identify key insights that solve business problems

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in data science or analytics roles

  • Proven track record of leading data science projects from conception to deployment

Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field

  • Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods industries

  • Expertise in machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn

  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or Scala
