Junior Software Engineer

Octacom is an enterprise software and services company focused on document and data management solutions. They are looking for a passionate and versatile Software Developer to assist in the design, development, and support of a diverse ecosystem, contributing to the entire software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Build & Enhance: Develop and support a variety of applications (C# .NET, Web APIs, and legacy VB.NET) with a focus on performance and scalability
• Data Mastery: Write and optimize SQL queries to interact with our MSSQL databases—data is at the heart of what we do
• Full Lifecycle: Participate in the entire dev process, from initial research and documentation to deployment and bug fixing
• Collaborate: Work closely with management and operations to troubleshoot issues and recommend new tools or technologies to improve our workflow
• Maintain: Provide high-quality support for existing production applications, ensuring they remain reliable for our clients

Skills

• A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Exposure to the .NET ecosystem (C#) and a strong grasp of relational databases (MSSQL) and SQL querying
• A commitment to writing reusable, maintainable code and experience with Git version control
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical teammates
• A 'self-starter' attitude. You're comfortable shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment and eager to learn legacy systems and modern stacks alike
• Knowledge of VB.NET
• An interest in AI/Machine Learning tools
• An interest in DevOps tools
