About the Role
As our Tax Data Innovation Director, you will serve as a critical pillar of our growing Finance Group, taking responsibility for the innovation and information needs of the entire tax department. You will report directly to the Chief Tax Officer and work collaboratively across departments to build the future of tax data management at arenaflex.

This role will support the tax data requirements generated by our business expansion and tax compliance projects. You will serve as a crucial liaison between tax, engineering, and business teams to identify and implement necessary changes to our tax data ecosystem. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Data Partnership: Work directly with stakeholders to identify tax data and technology needs, define comprehensive requirements, and manage execution of critical initiatives.
- Technical Collaboration: Partner directly with data engineers and programmers to design new data sources and tooling that perfectly fits the tax team's requirements.
- Innovation Leadership: Constantly challenge the status quo and develop smarter, more efficient ways of managing and processing tax data at scale.
- Complex Problem Solving: Tackle intricate challenges using data-driven approaches for large-scale tax operations and reporting.
- Emerging Technology Exploration: Experiment with cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to bring innovative solutions to tax burden management.
- Roadmap Development: Participate in defining arenaflex's tax data and automation strategy, creating a clear path for technological advancement.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work cross-functionally end-to-end, collaborating with our business teams on the front, engineering in the middle, and accounting teams on the back to ensure the integrity of our tax data streams.
- Team Enablement: Elevate the tax team's understanding and utilization of automation technologies through comprehensive knowledge sharing and training programs.
- Workflow Development: Design and implement efficient workflows using Alteryx Cloud and other automation platforms to streamline tax data processes.
Essential Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, MIS, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field of study.
- Financial Data Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing large sets of financial data with strong understanding of tax-related information structures.
- Industry Experience: 4+ years of experience in data and automation roles; tax-related data experience is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep experience running complex SQL queries and manipulating large databases.
- Automation Tools: Strong experience developing workflows in Alteryx Cloud and using Alteryx Desktop.
- Technology Stack: Working knowledge of technology tools including Snowflake, Python, and other data processing platforms.
- Business Analysis: Experience writing business requirements and conducting testing to support large-scale data projects.
- Data Analysis: Proven experience participating in the research and testing of new datasets and data sources.
- Productivity Tools: Proficiency with various productivity programs including Monday.com, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace (G-sheets, docs, and slides).
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail combined with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-Motivation: Self-motivated individual with proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work independently.
- Intellectual Curiosity: Driven to find the right answer with a curious mindset and determination to solve complex problems.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Additional Capabilities
- Experience with AI and Machine Learning applications in financial data analysis
- Statistical Analysis expertise with ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets
- Knowledge of database design and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) best practices
- Familiarity with scripting languages and ability to review code for accuracy
- Alteryx Core Certification or equivalent automation credentials
- CPA, CMA, or CPA/CMA candidate status
