What You Will Do

As an Associate Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting analytics solutions that provide actionable insights for better decision-making across the organization. Here's what your daily work will look like:


  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with source data software teams and product owners to understand business requirements and design, implement, and support analytics solutions that address key business challenges and provide meaningful insights.
  • Cloud Data Engineering: Implement data migration and data engineering solutions using Azure products and services, including Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Databricks, and other cloud-native tools.
  • Full Development Lifecycle: Participate in multiple aspects of the development lifecycle, including design, cloud engineering (infrastructure, network, security, and administration), data ingestion, preparation, data modeling, testing, CI/CD pipelines, performance tuning, deployments, consumption, BI implementation, alerting, and production support.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide technical support and collaborate within a team environment while also demonstrating the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges.
  • DevOps Ownership: Be part of a DevOps team that fully owns and supports their product, taking end-to-end responsibility for the quality and reliability of your solutions.
  • Pipeline Development: Implement both batch and streaming data pipelines using cutting-edge cloud technologies to ensure real-time data availability and processing capabilities.
  • Best Practices: Develop coding standards, best practices, and privacy and security guidelines to ensure compliance and maintainable code across the organization.

All You'll Need for Success

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Prior Job Experience


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems (CIS/MIS), Engineering, or an associated technical discipline, or equivalent experience and training.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 1 year of software solution development using agile methodologies and DevOps practices, working in a product model that includes designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
  • Analytics Skills: Minimum of 1 year of data analytics experience using SQL, with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work with large datasets.
  • Cloud Experience: Minimum of 1 year of cloud development and data lake experience (preferably Microsoft Azure), including hands-on work with Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Technical Proficiency: Development, Administration, and Support experience in several of the following tools and platforms is required:

    • Scripting: Python, Spark, Unix, SQL

    • Data Platforms: Teradata, Cassandra, MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, ADLS, Snowflake, Azure Data Explorer (Administration skills a plus)

    • Azure Cloud Technologies: Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Azure Functions

    • CI/CD: GitHub, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Terraform

    • BI Analytics Tool Stack: Cognos, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Denodo, and Grafana

    • Data Warehouse: DataStage, Informatica

    • Data Governance and Privacy: Informatica Axon and EDC, BigID



Preferred Qualifications – Education and Prior Job Experience


  • 2 years of software solution development using agile, DevOps, and product model methodologies, including designing, developing, and implementing large-scale applications or data engineering solutions.
  • 3 years of data analytics experience using SQL, demonstrating advanced query optimization and performance tuning skills.
  • 2 years of full-stack development experience, ideally in Azure environments.
  • 2 years of cloud development and data lake experience with Microsoft Azure, including Azure EventHub, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, ADX, ASA, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Lake, Azure Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Valuable: Airline Industry Experience – understanding the unique data challenges and opportunities in the aviation sector.

Skills, Licenses, and Certifications


  • Proven experience with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation, and developing intake layers.
  • Working knowledge in providing practical guidance within Azure Native cloud services.
  • Preferred Certifications:

    • Spark Certification

    • Azure Development Track Certification


  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot complex data pipeline issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy regulations, and security best practices.
