The Role:
VOW is seeking a Head of Business Development — Sports to lead our commercial expansion across professional sports leagues, teams, and major global sporting properties.

This is a senior commercial leadership role focused on building trusted relationships with league executives, ownership groups, and senior commercial leaders inside sports organizations.

This role is specifically designed for senior executive with direct experience generating sponsorship, partnership, or premium hospitality revenue inside professional sports organizations.

The ideal candidate already operates within the professional sports ecosystem and maintains direct relationships with decision-makers across leagues, teams, major tournaments, and sports agencies.

Working directly with the CEO, this leader will develop enterprise partnerships and establish VOW as the technology platform powering premium guest, sponsor, and hospitality orchestration across professional sports.

    Key responsibilities:
  • Drive strategic partnerships across organizations such as: Professional Leagues & Governing Bodies, Teams & Ownership Groups, Major Events & Global Competitions, Commericial Operators & Sports Agencies
  • Building relationships with league executives, team leadership, and senior commercial stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities where VOW can power premium guest and sponsor experiences
  • Driving enterprise SaaS partnerships with multi-year scope
  • Translating operational challenges inside sports events into scalable technology solutions
  • Representing VOW within senior sports business circles and industry forums
    What Success Looks Like:Within the first 6–9 months, this leader will:
  • Establish enterprise pilot partnerships with multiple sports organizations
  • Introduce VOW into premium hospitality and sponsorship environments
  • Build a meaningful commercial pipeline across leagues and teams
  • Contribute to shaping VOW’s product roadmap for sports operations
    Required Experience:
  • Candidates must demonstrate significant experience within professional sports leagues, teams, or major sports agencies.
  • Strong candidates will typically demonstrate recent experience that includes:
  • Managing or mentoring commercial teams of 3 or more professionals
  • Oversight of $10M+ sponsorship, partnership, or hospitality-related revenue portfolios
  • Direct responsibility for negotiating and closing high-value commercial agreements
  • Senior relationships with league offices, ownership groups, and corporate partnership leadership
    Minimum Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in professional sports business with a track record of selling $10M+ in sponsorship revenue
  • Direct exposure to league or team leadership environments
  • Demonstrated experience building partnerships with senior decision makers inside sports organizations
    Ideal backgrounds include senior roles within:
  • Professional sports leagues
  • Professional sports franchises
  • Major sports marketing agencies
  • Premium hospitality or sponsorship divisions
  • Sports technology companies serving leagues and teams
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working with organizations such as: NBA, NFL, Formula 1, PGA Tour, MLS, USTA, The Team, Octagon, On Location, Legends, IMG / Endeavor

This position is designed for senior commercial operators with direct experience in sponsorship, partnerships, or premium hospitality environments within professional sports organizations.

    Accordingly, this role is not intended for candidates whose primary experience is centered in:
  • Ticket sales or inside sales
  • Entry-level partnerships roles
  • Event operations without commercial partnership responsibility
  • Facility or venue marketing roles
  • Brand marketing or brand management roles
  • Traditional marketing or advertising roles
  • Media buying or advertising purchasing roles
  • Broadcasting, media production, or streaming operations
  • Media rights negotiations or network-side roles
  • Public relations or communications functions
