The American Red Cross Greater New York is seeking a highly organized and motivated Gala Planning Volunteer to support two premier fundraising events exceeding $1M+ each annually—with exciting growth planned for Fiscal Year 2027.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale, high-visibility events that directly support lifesaving services across our communities.
About the Role

    As a Gala Planning Volunteer, you will play a key role in shaping and supporting the success of our signature fundraising events. You will:
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance event experience and donor engagement
  • Conduct research on best practices in nonprofit fundraising and events
  • Assist in developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan
  • Coordinate committee activities and manage timelines
  • Support communication across internal teams and stakeholders
  • Gather and analyze event data to inform strategy and measure success
  • Ideal Candidate
    We are looking for a candidate who is both strategic and detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment:
  • Experience or interest in nonprofit events, fundraising, marketing, or communications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, high-performing team
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Teams and Copilot); willingness to learn platforms such as GiveSmart and Salesforce
  • Experience supporting or planning events approaching or exceeding $1M is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with the NYC corporate or fundraising landscape is a plus
  • ⏱️ Time Commitment
  • Approximately 5–7 hours per week
  • Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person meetings (NYC Office)
  • Most meetings occur during standard business hours
