Financial Analyst I

The University of Southern California's Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Financial Analyst I to join their administrative team. The role involves preparing financial reports, analyzing departmental performance, and providing support for budgeting processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly visual reports on Operating Room scheduling efficiency and utilization
• Generate recurring reports for business operations, including monthly payroll reconciliation, and faculty clinical/nonclinical effort tracking
• Process accounting journal entries as assigned
• Monitor and analyze Departmental financial performance on a regular basis; report findings and identify opportunities for improvement
• Extract large volumes of data from organization’s systems, and perform comprehensive analyses to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Provide analytical support for annual budgeting process
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of monthly invoicing and payroll processes for designated providers
• Utilize advanced analytical tools (e.g., Tableau) to process and visualize large datasets; apply advanced Excel functions (e.g., complex formulas) to support ad-hoc analyses
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• 1 - 2 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis and/or data analytics
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as database query tools
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• Experience in a hospital, medical group, or similar environment
• Proficiency in data visualization and analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), and/or programming languages
• Experience with QGenda
