Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Internal Audit Data Analyst to play a pivotal role in our Internal Audit department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the digital transformation of our Risk-Based Audit Approach and SOX compliance program through advanced data analysis and automation. This position offers significant visibility across the organization and provides an excellent platform for professional growth in the fields of data analytics, audit technology, and business intelligence.
Based in our Manor, FL office, this role reports to the Internal Audit Partner Head of Examination and Automation. The successful candidate will utilize a comprehensive set of analytical skills to support our audit initiatives and contribute to the continuous improvement of our audit methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation & Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement automation opportunities within the internal audit function using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Analytical Process Automation (APA) to eliminate manual tasks and enhance efficiency.
- Data Analysis & Visualization: Support internal audits with comprehensive data analysis by creating sophisticated Tableau dashboards, running statistical analyses, and developing real-time monitoring solutions over high-risk audit areas.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business processes, identify risks that need monitoring, and develop meaningful insights that drive actionable recommendations.
- Business Insights Development: Create, maintain, and continuously improve analytical solutions that provide business insights to guide strategic decisions and uncover opportunities for operational enhancement.
- Audit Methodology Execution: Plan, perform, and document data analysis methodologies to validate the adequacy and effectiveness of business processes, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Investigation & Storytelling: Conduct investigations into data anomalies and translate findings into compelling narratives that are meaningful and actionable for business stakeholders.
- Data Quality Assurance: Evaluate and maintain the quality and reliability of data being utilized by working closely with business units and Data Warehouse teams to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Proactive Risk Monitoring: Monitor emerging risks to identify trends that represent opportunities or potential issues, determine root causes, and collaborate with team members on follow-up actions.
- Training & Enablement: Develop and deliver data analysis training programs for internal audit staff to build analytical capabilities across the department.
- Dataset Validation: Review datasets for completeness and accuracy by validating them against authoritative sources and ensuring data integrity throughout the audit process.
Required Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, Economics, Data Management, or a related field with an analytical or quantitative emphasis.
- Technical SQL Proficiency: Strong SQL skills with an active understanding of databases, ETL processes, and data modeling across unstructured or semi-structured datasets spanning multiple business functions.
- Programming Abilities: Proven ability to develop production-level code using appropriate programming languages and tools.
- Business Intelligence Expertise: Demonstrated experience with BI tools including but not limited to Tableau, Power BI, KNIME, OBIEE, and Alteryx.
- Analytical Methodology: Experience interpreting data, designing statistical approaches, and analyzing results using exploratory and statistical techniques.
- ETL Experience: Related experience leading ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) operations and understanding data pipeline architecture.
- Presentation Skills: Experience presenting findings to colleagues across the organization, including executive leadership, with clarity and impact.
- Technical Passion: Excellent technical skills and a strong passion for data analysis and investigation, combined with intellectual curiosity in pursuing answers to questions about business outcomes.
- Self-Motivation: A self-starter mindset with the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
- Advanced Analytics: Proven analytical skills using SAS, R, or Python for statistical modeling and data analysis.
- Statistical Methods: A solid understanding of statistical methodologies such as regression, predictive modeling, forecasting, time series analysis, and clustering, with the ability to apply these techniques to address business needs including fraud analysis and anomaly detection.
- Data Handling: Ability to work with imperfect information and uncertainty while managing both unstructured and structured data effectively.
- Experience Level: Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in data analysis, data science, or internal audit with a strong data analytics focus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with predictive modeling and machine learning applications in fraud and anomaly detection
- Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal control frameworks
- Experience in the retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods industries
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CISA, CPA, or data analytics certifications
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms and big data technologies
