Position Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Information Researcher - Real World Evidence (RWE) to join our Clinical Data Science team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data professional who is passionate about leveraging analytical expertise to address critical questions in healthcare and clinical research. Key Responsibilities

As an RWE Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with a variety of critical responsibilities that contribute to our mission of advancing healthcare through data-driven insights:


  • Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms. Analyze and interpret results while contributing to the development of analysis strategies that maximize data utility and insight generation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver actionable insights from real-world, clinical, and other data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests. This includes analysis of unmet medical needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.

  • Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into an integrated data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility across the organization.

  • Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and statistical analysis to analyze RWE/Real World Data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes. Apply advanced statistical techniques to uncover patterns and trends that inform clinical decision-making.

  • Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities by applying advanced analysis and tools to answer scientific questions from biopharmaceutical organizations. Contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytical infrastructure.

  • Research Design: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and statistical validity. Work closely with clinical experts to translate research questions into robust analytical approaches.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, rigorous, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations. Maintain high standards for analytical accuracy and reproducibility.

  • Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and reports for both internal and external use. Effectively communicate complex findings to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Vendor Assessment: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors. Drive RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and partnership opportunities.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:


  • Statistical Expertise: Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data. Strong foundation in statistical methodology and research design.

  • Statistical Techniques: Knowledge of common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, clustering and classification, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis. Proficiency in applying these techniques to real-world healthcare datasets.

  • Big Data Experience: Proven experience processing large datasets from multiple data sources. Comfortable working with complex, high-dimensional data structures and scalable analytical platforms.

  • Healthcare Data Compliance: Experience handling protected patient health information (PHI) with strict adherence to privacy regulations and data security protocols. Understanding of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data governance.

  • Business Intelligence Tools: Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other BI/visualization tools. Ability to create compelling data visualizations that drive actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with the following qualifications will be strongly preferred:


  • Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Advanced training in quantitative methods and data science.

  • Healthcare Data Systems: Expertise in EMR/Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Familiarity with electronic health record data structures and healthcare data ecosystems.

  • Clinical Data Standards: Proficiency in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10, Read Code, SNOMED CT).

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO standards, MDD/MDR, CFR Title 21).

  • Innovative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and/or solutions (wearables, patient apps, digital health platforms).

  • Advanced Statistical Methods: Experience with experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data, and computational statistics. Knowledge of machine learning methods and the ability to continuously learn new technical and non-technical skills.
