Key Responsibilities

As a Pharmacy Technician at arenaflex, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy operations and ensuring exceptional patient care. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Pharmacy Operations Support: Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policies and procedures. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you'll help maintain the efficient operation of our pharmacy department.
  • Prescription Processing: Use advanced pharmacy systems to accurately obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, enter data correctly, fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets, verify medication accuracy, and check for possible drug interactions.
  • Patient Interaction: Serve as the front and center of our pharmacy operations—greeting customers, providing assistance with services and products, and delivering a unique and delightful customer experience that sets arenaflex apart.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Engage customers and patients by greeting them warmly and offering assistance. Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience, including demonstrating excellent interpersonal habits (greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and arenaflex service characteristics (providing help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Relationship Building: Develop strong relationships with our most valuable customers and work to become their trusted healthcare resource. Support the pharmacy team in building good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
  • Quality Assurance: Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs. Strictly adhere to company policy regarding good faith dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Financial Operations: Be responsible for registering all related income on assigned cash registers, collecting and handling cash as required. Assist customers by guiding them to over-the-counter aisles when possible to help find products.
  • Third-Party Claims Processing: Correctly process and resubmit manual claims for third-party prescription prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager.
  • Inventory Management: Assist and support pharmacy department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of prescription drugs. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods related to prescription medications.
  • Clinical Support: May assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required. Assist pharmacy staff in coordinating clinical services, arenaflex healthcare clinics, and external vendors.
  • Facility Maintenance: Assist with indoor and outdoor maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies and remains clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
  • Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, and complete special assignments and other responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Personal Development

At arenaflex, we are committed to helping you grow both professionally and academically. As part of our team, you will:


  • Earn and maintain PTCB Certification through our exclusive PTCB training program and/or state-required certification/registration. Otherwise, earn PTCB Certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
  • Attend training and complete required learning modules requested by your manager while acquiring continuing education credits.
  • Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest information and developments in the field.
  • Upon completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, qualify for eight (8) university credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This coursework is recommended for three semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and five semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of eight semester hours.

  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications will help you excel in this role:


  • Six months or more of experience in a retail environment

  • Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting

  • Strong math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications

  • Proficient computer skills and comfort with technology

  • Knowledge of store inventory control procedures

  • PTCB Certification (or willingness to obtain through our program)

  • Familiarity with pharmacy software and systems

  • Understanding of medical terminology
