Our Global Merchant and Network Services (GM&NS) Pricing team is responsible for driving the single largest source of American Express' revenue: Trader Markdown Income. This team works closely with numerous colleagues to determine the optimal pricing that enables vendor acceptance of American Express while striving to improve inclusion and vendor satisfaction. By leveraging client-driven pricing standards, more adaptable pricing engineering, and innovative pricing solutions, we drive GMS income and profit growth.
- *The Financial Analyst of Planning and Research – Canada**
As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for determining and reporting on dealer markdown income. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence multiple organizations and departments by aligning the association's objective for profitable charge volume and vendor growth, essential for the strength of our business.
- *Key Responsibilities:**
- Create a Canada figure for shipper rebate income track month-to-month execution against conjecture and recognize drivers of change.
- Develop vendor rebate income scorecards for the Canada district.
- Drive normalization and interaction improvement among the different local valuing groups for all detailing and determining related exercises.
- Support external reviews including investigating issues found, reaching the provincial estimating groups that deal with the trader relationship to talk about issues, and managing goals.
- Perform impromptu information investigation to assess rebate rate drifts and uncover insights.
- *Essential Qualifications:**
- 2+ years' experience in financial services or payments industry, and/or other financial roles.
- Four-year college education required; strongly preferred in finance/Accounting/Business.
- High proficiency with Excel is required.
- Solid attention to detail and organization.
- Solid aptitude for analysis; demonstrated ability to develop complex financial models and draw value-added insights from large financial datasets. Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., SAS/SQL) is required.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
- A strong relationship with management and collaboration skills with the ability to influence others in situations where there may be multiple objectives.
