Job Summary
We're seeking a skilled and compassionate Chat/Text Crisis Specialist to join our 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention team. As a vital member of our team, you will provide emotional support and connect individuals in crisis with essential resources, making a meaningful difference in their lives. In this critical role, you will handle incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and service linkage for individuals experiencing emotional distress.
About the Role
This is a remote work opportunity, and you'll be working a 3rd shift schedule from Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 pm - 2:30 am CST. As a Crisis Support Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others, while also developing your skills and expertise in crisis support and mental health services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals in crisis
- Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
- Connect individuals with community resources and services to support their mental health needs
- Participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings to ensure best practices and continuous improvement
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you'll need to have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist)
- 6 months to 1 year of related crisis experience
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and maintain confidentiality
