What You'll Do
As a Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be at the heart of our data infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that ensure the reliable flow of data across the organization. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that meet those requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Data Solutions: Create software applications that process, store, and serve data for use by data scientists, analysts, and business users across the organization.
- Design Data Models and Pipelines: Architect and implement data models and pipelines that collect, integrate, and normalize data from multiple sources to generate meaningful insights and support reporting needs.
- Build ETL Processes: Write Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) processes, design database systems, and develop tools for both real-time and batch analytical processing.
- Scalable Pipeline Development: Develop data pipelines that are flexible, repeatable, and secure, ensuring they can handle growing data volumes and complexity.
- Data Quality Assurance: Analyze programming and processes to ensure data consistency and integrity across all systems and platforms.
- Data Integration: Integrate data from various internal and external sources, ensuring adherence to data quality and accessibility standards.
- Problem Resolution: Effectively troubleshoot and resolve issues and obstacles as they occur, minimizing downtime and maintaining system reliability.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with internal and external peers, as well as supervisors, to exchange complex information related to assigned projects and initiatives.
What We're Looking For

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or a similar role; OR advanced degree in a technical discipline with relevant experience
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, stored procedures, and performance optimization
- Experience establishing and maintaining key relationships with internal stakeholders (peers, colleagues, and leadership) and external partners (business community, clients, and vendors) within a matrix organization
- Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions that drive improvement and inform solution-finding
- Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (both within state and out of state)
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline
- Experience with REST API development and integration
- Experience with Azure cloud application deployment and management
- Strong experience with Azure technologies, including:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Databricks (using Python or Scala)
- Azure Application Services
- Azure Data Lake
- Azure Functions
- Event Hubs
- Event Grid
- Logic Apps
- Experience building Azure DevOps pipelines to enable CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation
- Knowledge of big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and modern data architecture patterns
