The Senior Epic Client Systems Administrator will positively impact UCSF’s operations and culture by ensuring UCSF's IT infrastructure is operable, secure, efficient, and effective in service of UCSF’s academic mission. This team member will advance UCSF’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students. This role will execute UCSF’s vision while modeling UCSF’s culture and values.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The annual salary range for this position is $121,900-$277,100. Certain terms and conditions of employment for this position, including the rate of pay, benefits, etc., are currently subject to negotiation with the appropriate union. Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in one or more of the following fields: Epic systems administration, server administration or information systems.
- Bachelor’s degree, or four years of experience/training, in one or more of the following fields: computer engineering, information systems or computer science.
- Demonstrated successful experience in information technology, platform services, or Epic client systems.
- Advanced understanding of Epic EHR systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance. Familiarity with Epic modules and their integration within the healthcare environment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to Epic systems and associated hardware. Highly skilled in performing system updates, patches, and upgrades.
- Proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems, including command-line interfaces and system administration tasks.
- Advanced knowledge of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Understanding of network security practices and protocols.
- Extensive understanding with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) and SQL. Understanding of how databases interact with Epic systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and best practices for data security and privacy. Understanding of security protocols and tools used to protect sensitive information.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze system performance metrics and identify trends or potential issues.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and is able to communicate technical information and ideas to a diverse community of colleagues and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members, stakeholders, and customers.
- Strong organizational skills and is able to balance competing priorities and support concurrent projects. Experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills; scopes solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines. Able to ask questions, gather information, evaluate options, and make decisions with integrity.
- Extensive experience participating in activities to advance an inclusive environment that values equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
