Overview

A leading national environmental consulting firm is seeking an Environmental Siting and Routing Project Manager to lead high-profile energy and linear infrastructure projects across the United States. This role focuses on the planning, siting, and routing of projects including electric transmission lines, natural gas pipelines, renewable energy generation facilities, and battery energy storage systems. The position offers hands-on leadership, strategic influence, and the opportunity to work on projects that are technically complex and nationally significant.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Lead environmental siting and routing efforts for energy and linear infrastructure projects
  • Coordinate and oversee field surveys, technical assessments, and environmental studies
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring technical quality, schedule adherence, and budget compliance
  • Prepare and review environmental documentation supporting permitting and regulatory approvals
  • Serve as the primary liaison with clients, agencies, and internal technical teams
  • Assess routing alternatives, identify environmental constraints, and integrate stakeholder input
  • Mentor junior staff and support professional development within the project team
  • Ensure regulatory defensibility and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local environmental requirements
    Candidate Profile
  • 8–12 years of experience in environmental consulting, preferably with linear infrastructure or energy projects
  • Strong exposure to energy siting, routing, and environmental permitting; NEPA experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, multi-disciplinary teams, and client relationships
  • Excellent technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff while maintaining hands-on technical engagement
  • Track record of delivering technically complex and nationally significant projects
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
