Freeport-McMoRan is a company located in New Orleans, Louisiana, seeking an Engineer I for Instrumentation and Controls. In this role, you will organize and execute engineering tasks and projects under supervision, perform design tasks, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project completion.
Responsibilities
- Under close supervision, organize and execute designated instrument and control engineering tasks and projects, ensuring successful completion within defined schedule and cost
- You will perform engineering design tasks for assigned projects, including modeling, calculations, drawings, and specifications while maintaining accurate records throughout the project life cycle
- In this role, you develop, prepare, and review technical documentation and reports to support design decisions and project requirements, participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions into overall project plans, and conduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements
- As an Instrument/Control Engineer I, you utilize engineering software and tools to model, simulate, and analyze design components, assist in resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning phases
- You contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and knowledge sharing within the project office and perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Instrument/Control Engineering or an appropriate engineering discipline with no experience required
- Familiarity with Instrumentation and Controls deliverables such as Piping and Instrument Diagrams (PIDs), Input/Output Lists (I/O), AUTOCAD drawings, and Database lists
- Introductory knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
- Ability to research, analyze information, and draw valid conclusions
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience in a capital project design office
- Experience with mining and metallurgical process facilities
