Tamarack Homes is a family-owned business with a legacy of home-building in Ottawa. The Drafting Coordinator will support the Drafting & Design team by preparing and coordinating residential construction drawings and permit documentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and revising residential working drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
- Support the development of drawing sets based on markups, sketches, and redlines
- Review drawings for completeness and flag inconsistencies or missing information
- Assist in incorporating design changes into drawing packages
- Support the preparation and submission of permit applications to municipal authorities
- Track permit status, timelines, and approvals to ensure deadlines are met
- Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g., consultants, municipalities) for follow-ups
- Maintain organized permit logs and documentation
- Compile and organize drawing packages and supporting documentation for construction
- Assist in preparing site plans by consolidating information (grading, surveys, utilities)
- Ensure construction teams receive up-to-date drawings and permits
- Maintain accurate project files and records
- Assist in reviewing customer design change requests
- Prepare notes and documentation to support internal review and consultant coordination
- Track progress of changes to ensure timely completion
- Assist with administrative tracking (permit schedules, documentation logs, etc.)
- Support the team in managing multiple active projects and deadlines
- Stay current on updates to subdivision developments and relevant regulations
Skills
- A diploma in an Architectural Technology or Technician program is required
- Experience with AutoCAD 2026, and Revit 2026 design programs is required
- 1–2 years of experience in drafting, construction, or a related environment (Co-op or internship experience considered)
- Basic understanding of residential construction drawings
- Familiarity with Ontario Building Code (Part 9) is an asset
- Able to read and understand structural (floor and truss layouts), mechanical, and electrical design
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions and learn
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and build knowledge
