Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced professional to lead our first-party consumer data collection and activation strategies within the digital ecosystem. This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Marketing Categories, IMX Media, Martech, and other internal or external brand development teams. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in enhancing consumer engagement, adoption, and loyalty across various digital channels.
As the Director of Consumer Data Collection and Activation, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategies that capture, manage, and activate first-party consumer data. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure our data initiatives align with overall business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of data privacy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Create and implement comprehensive strategies for collecting, managing, and utilizing first-party buyer information across the digital ecosystem. This includes defining data governance frameworks, establishing quality standards, and ensuring data integrity across all platforms.
- Data Collection Optimization: Design and enhance data collection structures, including website cookies, customer registrations, surveys, and other online interactions, to capture meaningful consumer information. Identify opportunities for data enrichment through third-party sources to enhance consumer profiles and segmentation.
- Personalized Customer Journeys: Define and execute personalized customer journeys across digital ecosystems, ensuring consistency and relevance at every touchpoint. Lead end-to-end digital CRM campaigns and develop data-driven content strategies that resonate with diverse customer segments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams to align first-party consumer data collection and activation strategies with overall business objectives. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages data sharing and cross-functional teamwork.
- Compliance and Privacy: Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure data collection practices adhere to privacy regulations and industry standards. Implement robust consent management processes to obtain explicit permission from consumers for data collection and usage.
- Performance Analytics: Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of data collection methods and activation campaigns. Provide regular insights and recommendations to senior leadership on data strategy improvements and consumer engagement optimization.
- Technology Leadership: Stay current with emerging data technologies and marketing automation platforms. Evaluate and recommend new tools and approaches that can enhance our data capabilities and competitive advantage.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-12 years of proven experience in Digital Customer Engagement, CRM Leadership, or similar executive positions. Experience in consumer goods, entertainment, or digital marketing agencies is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong capability in marketing automation and CRM platforms, specifically Adobe Journey Analyzer and Adobe Experience Platform. Solid understanding of data analysis, customer segmentation, and targeting approaches.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate business objectives into meaningful customer engagement strategies. Proven track record of developing and executing data-driven marketing initiatives.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Ability to present complex data insights in clear, actionable terms.
- Project Management: Strong coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in complex environments. Experience with stakeholder management and risk mitigation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with first-party data strategy development in regulated industries
- Background in entertainment or consumer packaged goods sectors
- Knowledge of emerging privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, and emerging global privacy frameworks
- Experience with customer data platforms (CDP) implementation and management
- Understanding of machine learning and AI applications in customer segmentation and personalization
