General Description

 

The Director of Capacity Building and Coaching will build and lead a department within Urban Strategies to provide capacity-building and coaching services. The En Conjunto program strengthens Latino congregations by enhancing organizational capacity and engaging donors to support vibrant, thriving faith communities. The program offers faith-based organizations and leaders a range of services, including administrative support, organizational development consultation, holistic community development coaching, and access to funding opportunities in coordination with partner institutions.

This role will develop a strong coaching team to support congregations and other faith-based organizations, as well as contribute to Urban Strategies’ broader programs. The Director will play a key role in planning, coordinating operations, and evaluating program impact.


About You

 

The ideal candidate is a strategic and experienced leader in organizational coaching and

capacity-building for faith-based organizations. They bring expertise in coaching,

organizational development, administration services, strategic planning and implementation;

deep understanding of Hispanic communities, holistic community development, and Christian

traditions; strong team leadership, relationship-building, and operational management skills.

The candidate excels at designing and implementing systems that connect and equip

stakeholders, fostering collaboration among churches, community partners, and

organizations. With experience in program design, leadership, or community engagement—

ideally in faith-based or nonprofit settings— the candidate brings both vision and structure to

initiatives that create lasting impact.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree in organizational leadership or development, business, nonprofit management, or a related field 

  • Minimum of 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit, faith-based, or community development organizations, and 5+ years of organizational coaching, and capacity building. 

  • Proven experience managing programs, and teams.  

  • Strong understanding of Hispanic culture, Christian traditions, and holistic community development. 

  • Excellent strategic planning, communication, system orientation, and partnership-building skills. 

  • Experience analyzing data and using the theory of change and logic model framework 

  • Bilingual (Fluent English/Spanish) · 

  • Mission-driven, collaborative, and adaptable to changing needs.


What You’ll Be Doing

Leadership and Team Management

  • Build and lead a coaching and capacity-building department within Urban Strategies.

  • Develop and manage a team of coaches to support Latino congregations and faith-based organizations.

  • Promote professional development opportunities for staff.

  • Foster a culture of learning, reflection, and sharing of best practices within the team.

  • Program Delivery and Coaching

  • Provide organizational development consultation and coaching services to program participants and other Urban Strategies programs.

  • Assess, design, implement, and evaluate frameworks, resources, and systems to provide:

  • Administrative support services such as finance, marketing, and IT

  • Organizational development consultation

  • Holistic community and organizational development coaching for faith-based leaders and organizations

Operations and Collaboration

  • Coordinate and oversee program operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and mission.

  • Collaborate with other Urban Strategies programs to provide integrated support to congregations and communities.

  • Provide direction to the communications and marketing department to strategically promote programs and services.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with partners and other stakeholders to support program growth and sustainability.

  • Represent the organization at conferences, coalitions, and public events.

Evaluation and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data to monitor program outcomes and impact.

  • Prepare regular reports for stakeholders on program progress and achievements.

  • Use feedback to make continuous improvements to the program.

Grant Development

  • Ensure timely and accurate grant reporting to program foundations and other stakeholders.

  • Lead engagement with program proposal partners, providing guidance on proposal development and implementation.

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure program sustainability.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks as assigned related to the program and role within Urban Strategies
