Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Role

We’re looking for a Finance Director to serve as a strategic partner to our CFO and play a central role in shaping and managing our field compensation and variable incentive programs. This is a highly visible, high-impact position for a finance leader who loves diving into complex models, surfacing clear insights, and driving smart decisions across a multi-location organization.

Although this role does not have direct reports, it has broad reach and influence across Finance, Operations, HR, and Regional/Field Leadership.

What You’ll Do

Own Field Compensation Reporting

  • Lead end-to-end financial reporting for all field compensation programs, including monthly and quarterly actuals.

  • Perform detailed variance analysis vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods.

  • Partner with FP&A and business leaders to develop annual compensation budgets and quarterly reforecasts.

  • Provide actionable insights into trends, cost drivers, and program effectiveness.

Build & Improve Variable Compensation Models

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize complex financial models for OD and Teammate variable compensation plans.

  • Collaborate with Regional Leadership, Field Leadership, and HR to evaluate plan design changes and model financial implications.

  • Stress-test compensation structures under multiple scenarios to assess economic impact.

  • Ensure models are accurate, scalable, and aligned with organizational incentives.

Own Incentive Calculations & Analysis

  • Lead monthly/quarterly calculation, validation, and analysis for:

  • Optometrist Incentive and Bonus Structures

  • Teammate Incentive Programs

  • Corporate Incentives

  • Ensure accuracy, compliance with plan rules, and timely communication to Payroll and leadership.

  • Build dashboards and reporting to increase transparency for field leaders and executives.

Analyze Fixed vs. Variable Costs

  • Perform ongoing analysis of fixed vs. variable cost structures across the field organization.

  • Identify margin implications, optimization opportunities, and productivity trends.

  • Model the financial impact of staffing, incentives, and org design changes.

  • Deliver insights that guide investment decisions at the CFO and senior leadership level.

What You Bring

  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial modeling, or compensation finance.

  • 5+ years in Retail (100+ stores minimum), ideally Optical Retail or Healthcare.

  • Strong expertise in incentive compensation structures, especially in multi-location or field-driven organizations.

  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling skills; BI, automation, or dashboard experience is a plus.

  • Clear communicator who can translate complex financial outcomes into digestible insights for non-financial partners.

  • High attention to detail, strong ownership mentality, and comfort managing complex workstreams independently.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

How You’ll Be Successful

  • Deliver accurate, on-time compensation calculations and reporting.

  • Improve transparency and predictability of field compensation costs.

  • Build high-quality models that enable leadership to make confident decisions.

  • Reduce errors, streamline processes, and reinforce financial discipline.

  • Establish strong, trust-based partnerships with Operations, HR, Strategy, and regional leaders.

What This Role Offers

  • High visibility with the CFO and senior leadership team.

  • A chance to shape compensation strategy for a growing field organization.

  • A pivotal seat at the table driving performance, accountability, and financial clarity.
