About This Role: Data Entry Clerk – Medical Billing
As a Data Entry Clerk at arenaflex, you will serve as a crucial cog in our medical billing machinery. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that patient demographics, billing information, and financial data are accurately entered into our systems, maintaining the highest standards of data integrity. This role is not merely about typing; it's about being the guardian of accurate healthcare information that impacts patient experiences, provider revenues, and the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery.
You will work closely with our billing team, insurance specialists, and healthcare clients to ensure seamless data flow and claim submissions. Your meticulous attention to detail will help minimize financial discrepancies, accelerate claims processing, and ultimately contribute to the financial sustainability of the healthcare providers we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurate Data Input: Systematically enter patient demographics, medical codes, procedure codes, and billing information into our electronic health record and billing systems with zero tolerance for errors that could delay payments or cause claim denials.
- Insurance Verification: Meticulously verify and update patient insurance details, including coverage limits, policy numbers, and eligibility status, to ensure accurate claims processing and minimize rejections.
- Records Management: Maintain, organize, and update electronic medical records and financial databases with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards, ensuring all patient information remains secure and accessible only to authorized personnel.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with the billing team, insurance coordinators, and healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies, answer inquiries, and ensure timely submission of claims.
- Quality Assurance: Proactively identify, analyze, and rectify data entry errors, coding discrepancies, and documentation gaps to minimize financial losses and maintain exceptional accuracy rates.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying workflow inefficiencies, suggesting optimization strategies, and participating in team projects aimed at enhancing data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Compliance Adherence: Stay current with evolving healthcare regulations, billing codes (ICD-10, CPT), and industry best practices to ensure all data entry activities meet legal and regulatory requirements.
- Reporting Support: Assist in generating reports related to data entry metrics, error rates, and billing performance to support management decision-making and quality assurance initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional Typing Accuracy: Proficiency in data entry with a proven track record of maintaining high accuracy rates (98% or above) and speed (minimum 45-50 words per minute).
- Keen Eye for Detail: Unparalleled attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies, errors, and discrepancies in numerical and textual data.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills including familiarity with data entry software, Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Organizational Mastery: Excellent organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
- Confidentiality & Ethics: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion, integrity, and professional ethics.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, respond to inquiries, and document information clearly.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Analytical mindset with the capability to identify issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions independently.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn new systems, adapt to changing processes, and embrace continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary education in healthcare administration, business, or related field is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: Previous experience in data entry, medical billing, or healthcare administration is highly preferred but not required. We welcome candidates who demonstrate strong potential and a willingness to learn.
- Training: Willingness to undergo comprehensive training programs to become proficient in medical billing processes, healthcare coding systems, and our proprietary software platforms.
