What You'll Do as a Customer Support Representative
As a valued member of the arenaflex team, you'll be responsible for delivering outstanding customer support to individuals who rely on our services during one of the most important financial periods of the year. Your role is multifaceted, requiring both technical proficiency and exceptional interpersonal skills. Here's what you can expect:
Primary Responsibilities
- Software Navigation Assistance: Guide customers through our tax preparation software, helping them understand features, locate tools, and complete their returns accurately and efficiently. You'll be the friendly voice (or text) that turns confusion into confidence.
- Return Retrieval Support: Assist customers in locating prior year returns, accessing amendments, and understanding their tax history. Your patience and attention to detail will help prevent costly errors and ensure peace of mind.
- Multi-Channel Support: Interact with customers across various support channels, including phone support with video chat capability and traditional chat support. You'll adapt your communication style to meet the needs of each customer.
- Escalation Management: Identify when a customer's needs exceed standard support parameters and escalate appropriately to ensure timely resolution. You'll collaborate with our advanced support teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
- Documentation & Accuracy: Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, issues, and resolutions to support continuous improvement of our services.

- April 8th-11th: $3/hour extra for 12+ hours, $4/hour extra for 16+ hours, $5/hour extra for 20+ hours
- April 12th-14th: $5/hour extra for 20+ hours
- April 15th (Tax Day): $10/hour extra for 5+ hours
- Performance Rewards: Contractors who meet or exceed key metrics typically earn $16-$19/hour during peak times and $15.60-$17.50/hour during non-peak periods. Peak rates apply January through April.
- Minimum Pay Guarantee: Contractors are guaranteed a minimum of 45 minutes of pay for each hour they're available for the full 60 minutes.

Essential Qualifications

- Excellent Communication: You communicate with a friendly tone and professional demeanor, both verbally and in writing. You can explain complex concepts in simple, understandable terms.
- Reliable Internet Connection: A wired broadband internet connection (no Wi-Fi or mobile internet) with at least 10 MBPS download speed is required to ensure smooth, uninterrupted customer interactions.
- Home Office Setup: A quiet, uninterrupted workspace with an organized desk area is essential. If you'll be on video chat, a professional appearance is expected.
Technology Requirements
- Personal computer (tablet not supported)
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system
- Wired internet connection (10+ MBPS recommended)
- Valid, up-to-date antivirus software
- USB headset with microphone
- Webcam (a webcam will be provided for the duration of your contract)
Preferred (But Not Required) Qualifications
- Previous customer service or technical support experience
- Familiarity with tax preparation software or financial services
- Experience with remote work or virtual team collaboration
- Basic understanding of tax concepts and filing procedures
Work Schedule and Contract Details
This is a seasonal contract position that runs from January through April 15th, 2024. During this time, you'll have access to flexible scheduling opportunities:
- Available hours: 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM CST, Monday through Sunday
- You choose your own schedule based on availability
- Both weekday and weekend options available
Important Note: We are currently unable to accept contractors residing in California, New York, Pennsylvania, or Washington. All contractors must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Understanding Your Contractual Relationship
It's important to understand that by joining arenaflex as a Customer Support Representative, you enter into an independent contractor relationship. This means:
- You maintain control over your schedule and work methods
- Working Solutions (or the staffing partner) will not withhold taxes from your earnings
- You will not be eligible for traditional employee benefits such as vacation pay, sick leave, retirement benefits, health insurance, or unemployment insurance
- You have the freedom to accept or decline assignments based on your availability
