Position Overview: What You'll Do
The Co-Op, Airport Customer Service – Health, Wellness & Ergonomics position is a full-time opportunity located in California. This role is ideal for a student pursuing a bachelor's degree who is passionate about workplace safety, ergonomics, and health initiatives. You will work closely with the Airport Customer Service division to support the development and implementation of safety programs, training initiatives, and procedural improvements that reduce workplace injuries and enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be on supporting the Health, Wellness, and Ergonomics team in their mission to create a safer, more efficient work environment for our frontline employees. Specifically, you will:
- Champion a Safety-First Culture: Foster an environment where safety is a core value by providing support, training, accountability, and recognition to team members across all airport operations.
- Develop Injury Prevention Strategies: Assist in the development and execution of procedures designed to reduce the risk of employee injuries and aircraft damage, with a particular focus on above-wing, below-wing, freight, cleaning, and ground support equipment (GSE) operations.
- Support Ergonomic Improvement Initiatives: Lead and assist in ergonomic-related studies across the system to identify opportunities for reducing physical strain, minimizing repetitive stress injuries, and optimizing workspace design for baggage, freight, and passenger handling operations.
- Drive Technology Integration: Support the program management of large-scale technology initiatives related to ergonomic improvements, helping to identify innovative solutions that enhance safety and efficiency.
- Manage Safety Programs: Support the day-to-day operations and management of existing health, wellness, and ergonomics programs, ensuring adherence to established protocols and continuous improvement cycles.
- Analyze Incident Data: Utilize data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI to digest and interpret injury and behavioral data, draw meaningful conclusions, seek consensus on improvement actions, and support initiatives to enhance safety behaviors.
- Facilitate Communication: Support the communications strategy for stakeholder groups, providing regular project status updates, collecting and organizing feedback, and delivering executive summaries and formal presentations.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Learn, interpret, and maintain compliance with various regulations, rules, codes, and standards governing workplace safety and aviation operations.
What We're Looking For: Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Occupational/Industrial Safety, Biomechanics/Kinesiology, Aviation Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
