We are seeking an experienced, driven Chief Operating Officer to work directly alongside the founder to scale AVA from MVP to a global platform. You will lead our seed funding strategy, build our operational foundation, drive user growth, and help shape the future of one of the most mission-driven companies in health tech.
This role is ideal for someone who has grown a startup from the ground up — someone who knows what it takes to raise capital, build a team, and execute a go-to-market strategy with lean resources and big ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising & Investor Relations
- Lead AVA's seed funding strategy — building the investor pipeline, refining the pitch, and helping close the round
- Develop pitch decks, financial models, and due diligence documentation for angel investors and seed-stage VCs
- Represent AVA at startup events, accelerator programs, pitch competitions, and investor forums
- Build the foundation for Series A by establishing the metrics and milestones institutional investors look for
- Growth & User Acquisition
- Design and execute go-to-market strategies to grow AVA's subscriber base across iOS and Android
- Build strategic partnerships with grocery delivery platforms (Instacart, Walmart+) and wearable brands (Apple Health, Fitbit, Garmin)
- Optimize the free trial to paid subscription funnel, targeting 15–20%+ conversion rates
- Define and own the KPI framework — CAC, LTV, churn, and retention — and build reporting dashboards that drive decisions
- Operations & Team Building
- Build AVA's operational infrastructure — processes, tools, and vendor relationships to support rapid scale
- Lead cross-functional execution across product, marketing, and business development
- Identify and recruit the early team with the right skills for a growth-stage AI startup
- Establish financial controls, governance structures, and reporting cadences in preparation for institutional investment
- International Expansion
- Identify and prioritize international expansion markets — starting with Spanish and Mandarin-speaking audiences
- Build the operational playbook for localizing AVA across languages, cuisines, and dietary cultures
- Develop the B2B and corporate wellness strategy to unlock enterprise revenue streams
- Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience at a startup, scale-up, or high-growth company — health tech, SaaS, or consumer apps preferred
- Demonstrated track record of helping a company raise seed or Series A funding — you've built the pitch and helped close the round
- Proven ability to scale a business through a combination of sales, marketing, operations, and strategic execution
- Strong financial acumen — ability to build models, manage burn rate, and communicate performance metrics to investors
- Experience building and leading cross-functional teams in a lean, resource-constrained environment
- Deep understanding of go-to-market strategy for mobile apps and subscription-based products
- Excellent communication and presentation skills — comfortable pitching to investors, enterprise clients, and partners
- Preferred Qualifications
- Background in health tech, fitness, nutrition, or consumer wellness
- Existing network of investors, accelerators, or venture capital contacts
- Experience with App Store optimization, mobile growth, and subscription business models
- Familiarity with corporate wellness sales or B2B SaaS go-to-market strategies
- Experience with international expansion and multilingual product strategies

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
