About the position
The Claims Analyst (First Party) is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating, and resolving first-party property damage and subrogation claims through final disposition, within established authority levels. This role requires sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and effective communication to protect the Company’s financial interests.
- Responsibilities
- Evaluates liability and communicates company position to the party responsible for causing damage to company property, or their insurance carrier.
- Investigate and resolve first-party property damage and subrogation claims within assigned authority and experience level.
- Coordinate assigned litigation and collaborate with outside counsel in support of property damage recovery efforts.
- Represent the Company in court proceedings involving facilities and property damage claims, as required.
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable statutes, case law, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Support the Insurance Team in the collection, review, and administration of Certificates of Insurance.

- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and telephone skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- A minimum of one (1) or more years of claims handling experience or related collections experience is required.
- Connecticut Casualty Adjuster’s License required, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire
- Valid motor vehicle driver’s license
- Nice-to-haves
- Three (3) or more years claims experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of gas and electric distribution systems is also preferred.
