The Claims Adjuster Trainee position is designed to provide a foundational understanding of insurance claims handling, focusing on customer service interactions and the claims process from initial filing to resolution.


Responsibilities

  • Initiates the first notice of loss using Safety’s proprietary software programs
  • Investigates, analyzes, and assesses liability and damages by collecting information from insureds, claimants, and witnesses
  • Interprets and applies policy coverages under Safety’s various insurance policies
  • Utilizes multiple software programs and databases to process and adjust claims
  • Implements appropriate surcharges according to Massachusetts General Laws
  • Identifies opportunities for subrogation
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with Safety’s agents through clear communication and strong customer service skills
  • Establishes timely and adequate claims reserves in line with Safety’s guidelines
  • Evaluates, negotiates, and secures equitable settlements for claims submitted
  • Detects, investigates, and refers potential fraudulent claims to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU)
  • Delivers excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues within established authority levels
  • Performs additional activities as required

Skills

  • A college degree or insurance-related coursework/experience is required
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary
  • Excellent communication skills are essential
  • Ability to cooperate and work effectively within a team environment
