AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm dedicated to delivering a better world. They are seeking a Civil Engineer to conduct geotechnical field investigations, oversee drilling methods, and prepare engineering calculations and technical documents.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct geotechnical field investigations, analyses, and reporting
  • Oversee drilling methods, seismic installations, rock and soil sampling, CCTV investigations, construction oversight, and quality control
  • Perform field testing
  • Prepare engineering calculations and develop technical documents, drawings, and figures
  • Cover slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and the design of shallow and deep foundations
  • Establish effective working relationships with subcontractors, clients, project managers, and coworkers
  • Up to 90% domestic travel required
  • Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field of study
  • 2 years of experience as a Civil Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, or a related occupation
  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field of study and no experience
  • Experience in geotechnical engineering
  • Experience in geotechnical analyses including performing material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses
  • Technical program skills with GeoStudio including Slope/W and Seep/W, UTexas4, Grapher, and AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Developing design reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Laboratory testing of soils and aggregates
  • Finite Element Modeling (FEM) for geotechnical applications
  • Foundation design for shallow and deep foundations
  • Construction monitoring and quality assurance of geotechnical works
  • Completion of at least one case study developing a numerical model to anticipate landslides using geotechnical principles and concepts
