Position Overview

As a Certified Pharmacy Customer Service Associate at arenaflex, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience while supporting our pharmacy operations. This role involves registering sales, processing prescriptions, maintaining inventory, and providing knowledgeable assistance to customers seeking over-the-counter products and health-related information. You will work closely with our pharmacists and store management team to ensure seamless operations and adherence to all state and federal regulations governing pharmacy practice.

You should be comfortable working in a retail environment, handling cash transactions, and utilizing pharmacy computer systems. Customer Experience Excellence



  • Greet and engage customers and patients in a warm, welcoming manner, offering assistance with products and services throughout the store

  • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally, answering questions to ensure complete satisfaction and a positive shopping experience

  • Model and share exceptional customer service best practices with team members, demonstrating interpersonal habits such as genuine greetings, appropriate eye contact, and courteous behavior

Pharmacy Operations & Prescription Processing



  • Operate assigned cash register with accuracy, processing customer purchases, collecting payments, and distributing change as needed

  • Process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges efficiently while maintaining proper documentation

  • Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, entering data correctly to ensure accurate prescription processing

  • Assist pharmacists in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medication correctness and checking for potential drug interactions

  • Support pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining efficient pharmacy workflow

  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs

  • Strictly adhere to all applicable regulations regarding Good Faith Dispensing during prescription activities

  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal pharmacist attention, including inquiries from physicians' offices

  • Process manual claims for third-party prescription programs in a timely and efficient manner

  • Perform various clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager

Inventory Management & Merchandising



  • Support pharmacy department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments

  • Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving prescription drugs

  • Keep pharmacy counters and shelves clean, well-merchandised, and properly organized

  • Perform regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records

  • Check in and price merchandise as required or as directed by store management

  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products, including alcoholic beverages and tobacco products

  • Construct and maintain attractive displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise

  • Complete resets and revisions as directed by management

  • Assist with proper food separation and product placement according to company policies and procedures

  • Implement first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory rotation for consumable items and restock shelves as needed

Additional Store Operations



  • Demonstrate working knowledge of store systems and equipment

  • Provide excellent customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster printing, and creative machine operations

  • Suggest and promote photo products to customers

  • Assume web pick-up responsibilities, monitoring orders in the picture care system, filling orders, and delivering them to customers upon arrival

  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and orderly store appearance

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures while maintaining respectful relationships with coworkers

  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as directed by management

Training & Personal Development


  • Earn and maintain PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification/registration

  • Attend training sessions and complete required learning modules as requested by management or assigned by corporate

  • Acquire continuing education credits to maintain certification and stay current with industry developments

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and advancements in the field

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required)



  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico where Spanish proficiency may be acceptable)

  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holiday hours

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds occasionally

  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and counting medications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

Preferred Qualifications



  • Six months or more of experience in a retail customer service environment

  • Prior work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting

  • Strong mathematical skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications

  • Proficiency in computer systems and software applications

  • Knowledge of store inventory control procedures and best practices

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or willingness to obtain certification

  • Familiarity with pharmacy workflow and prescription processing procedures

  • Experience handling cash register operations and point-of-sale transactions
