Business Development Associate - Real Estate Finance

Peoples Group is a trusted financial services company focused on fostering a dynamic and competitive financial ecosystem. They are seeking a Business Development Associate to join their Real Estate Finance team, where the role involves loan origination, underwriting, and business development within the commercial mortgage sector.

Responsibilities

• Originate and underwrite CMHC-insured and conventional construction and term mortgages
• Support the development of internal credit submissions to Peoples Trust’s Credit Committee
• Guide and support Real Estate Associates, Analysts, and Coordinators
• Collaborate with the Commercial Mortgage Funding team and external legal counsel to ensure efficient funding of all assigned loans
• Partner with the Regional Vice President and Business Development Managers to drive the regional success
• Lead marketing and outreach efforts to grow the regional mortgage portfolio
• Coordinate with Credit Group to monitor portfolio performance, identify and manage problem loans, and review appraisals and environmental reports in line with credit policies
• Manage CMHC-insured construction loans to completion and term takeout

Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
• Minimum 1-2 years of CMHC underwriting experience
• Strong understanding of AML and KYC requirements
• Demonstrated ability to generate sales and market development
• Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Clear and effective communication skills
