National Grid is hiring an Associate Engineer for their NY Gas Asset Management & Engineering department. The role involves providing technical expertise to ensure the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and enhancement of the gas distribution network.


Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis to support the Leak Prone Pipe (LPP) replacement program, including risk evaluation, asset condition assessment, and development of project recommendations
  • Analyze leaks, asset, and material data to identify trends, support prioritization, and improve system integrity performance
  • Support development of annual and multi‑year workplans by preparing project inputs, reviewing field data, and validating scope assumptions
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, and exhibits for internal stakeholders and regulatory filings
  • Collaborate with Field Operations, Distribution Engineering, Resource Planning/Coordination, and Corrosion to gather information, resolve data gaps, and refine project scopes
  • Utilize internal enterprise systems (MEPS, Maximo, GIS platforms) to maintain project records, track progress, and ensure data accuracy
  • Participate in process reviews and contribute to improvements of engineering procedures, tools, and workflows
  • Perform engineering studies and investigations under guidance, recommending corrective actions or mitigation strategies where appropriate

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university required
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam with Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred
  • 0-2 years of engineering or project management experience
  • Valid driver's license required
