Area Operations Manager- Sonography

This position will have operational oversight of the following states: Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. The ideal candidate must reside in one of these states.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations across assigned region, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and service standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support sonographers, fostering a positive and high-performing team culture.
  • Field Support: Perform ultrasound exams at least two (2) days per week to maintain clinical skills and support team integration.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including exam volumes, quality metrics, and patient satisfaction.
  • Resource Management: Oversee staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to optimize efficiency and coverage.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and internal policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clinical, administrative, and executive teams to support strategic initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Training & Development: Identify training needs and support professional development of team members

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Required Certification: Current ARDMS or equivalent ultrasound certification required.
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 5 years of clinical ultrasound experience.
      • At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare or imaging services environment.
      • Proven experience managing multi-site operations is strongly preferred.
    • Technical & Clinical Skills:
      • Proficiency in performing a wide range of ultrasound exams.
      • Strong understanding of clinical protocols, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
      • Familiarity with ultrasound equipment, PACS, and EMR systems.
    • Leadership & Operational Skills:
      • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams across multiple locations.
      • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
      • Experience in workforce planning, performance management, and staff development.
    • Analytical & Communication Skills:
      • Ability to analyze operational data and implement process improvements.
      • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
      • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
    • Other Requirements:
      • Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned region
      • Commitment to spending two days per week performing clinical scanning in the field.
      • Valid driver’s license
