Distinguished Programs is a leading national insurance Program Manager specializing in various insurance programs. The Administrative Underwriter Assistant will support a team of Underwriters in the Community Associations department by handling customer inquiries, processing endorsements, and performing various administrative tasks to enhance the team's efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance to others by communicating with internal and external customers on routine matters
  • Process endorsements, cancellations, declinations and assist with responses to brokers based on information provided by Underwriters
  • Resolve and triage incoming phone calls from brokers, banks and finance companies, and answer routine questions and inquiries that you have been trained to respond to
  • Coordinate and track ongoing service requests from brokers including endorsements, requests for policy information, certificates of insurance and other data
  • Bind insurance policies in appropriate systems and issue binders/invoices to brokers
  • Serve as back-up support to other team members on an as needed basis
  • Performs data entry
  • Maintain diligent record keeping of the disposition of inbound inquiries
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional customer service experience in an office or call center environment
  • Aptitude for computer based work; ability to achieve technical skills with Distinguished's software applications as well as Office 365
  • Detail oriented, and strong organizational skills including time-management and the ability to prioritize amongst various duties/requests
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including phone skills
  • Good judgement, common sense, and decision making abilities
  • Ability to anticipate and creatively solve problems
  • Ability to develop working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • High level of interpersonal skills to deal effectively with retail insurance brokers and co-workers
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and comfortably adapt to change
  • NY Property and Casualty insurance license (12 months preparation time permitted)
