Position Overview
As a Strategic Marketing Expert at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in driving category growth, enhancing gross margin, and expanding our market share within assigned product categories. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives that align with our overall business objectives. This position offers the unique opportunity to work from home while collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization.
You will report directly to senior leadership and contribute directly to sales and margin targets. Your analytical abilities and strategic thinking will be crucial in developing Class Plans that optimize SKU assortments, enhance Extracare loyalty program participation, and execute special projects that drive customer engagement and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Sales and Margin Performance: Contribute directly to achieving sales and gross margin objectives within your assigned product categories. Analyze market trends and identify opportunities to increase revenue and profitability.
- Data Analysis and Strategic Planning: Analyze relevant market data and integrate findings and recommendations into comprehensive Class Plans. This includes optimizing SKU assortments, enhancing Extracare loyalty program initiatives, and developing special promotional projects that resonate with our customer base.
- Strategic Execution of Merchandising Activities: Lead the strategic execution of everyday merchandising activities, including off-rack display plans, tracking promotional periods, and performing analysis to make corrective actions when necessary to ensure optimal performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with an internal team of arenaflex experts across multiple departments including Inventory, Pricing, Promotion, Finance, Store Brands, Store Configuration, Advertising, and Store Operations. Foster strong working relationships to ensure alignment and execution of category strategies.
- Sales and Inventory Analysis: Analyze sales records and inventory levels of current stock to identify trends, optimize stock levels, and prevent stockouts or overstock situations that could impact profitability.
- Competitive Analysis: Create and maintain a strong understanding of current competitive landscape. Proactively search for new competitive opportunities and make strategic recommendations to senior leadership to stay ahead in the market.
- Market Intelligence: Stay up to date with changes in the marketplace, including emerging trends, competitor activities, and shifting consumer preferences. Translate market intelligence into actionable strategies.
- Consumer and Supplier Research: Research customer product preferences, supplier costs, and the competitive environment to inform pricing strategies, promotional activities, and product assortment decisions.
Essential Qualifications
- Retail Math Expertise: Working knowledge of retail math concepts and demonstrated application in previous roles. Ability to analyze financial data, calculate margins, and interpret sales metrics to drive business decisions.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong technical expertise in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Access or other database systems is a plus but not required.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel approximately 5-10% of the time for team meetings, training sessions, and strategic planning sessions.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail and accuracy when working with data, reports, and financial information.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
