Staff Accountant (Remote) – VIP Marinas
Location: Fully Remote
(Preferred homebase: within ~100 miles of one of our marinas - tell us which one!)
Spreadsheets. Shorelines. Steering toward a brighter future.
At VIP Marinas, we don’t just crunch the numbers - we make them float. And it's our vision not only to manage marinas, but to create destinations on the water where people make positive memories that last a lifetime. From Texas to Oklahoma, Florida, and even the Bahamas, our properties are full of energy, growth, and opportunity. And our Corporate Accounting team plays a critical role behind the scenes keeping everything running smoothly. We’re a team that:
• Knows our debits from our credits ✔
• Takes our work seriously ✔
• But also shares vacation photos, checks in on each other, and genuinely enjoys the ride ✔
So if you’re looking for a role where you can grow, contribute, and be part of something meaningful… keep reading.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Staff Accountant who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and help keep our financials shipshape across a multi-entity environment.
Yes, you’ll be in the details (this is accounting, after all).
But you’ll also have real ownership, real visibility, and real opportunity to grow.
You’ll be part of a team that’s actively evolving; moving from legacy systems like QuickBooks Desktop toward a more modern, cloud-based future. And we’ve already started that journey with tools like:
• Numeric (month-end close management)
• and Brex (multi-entity expense management)
What You’ll Be Doing (Keeping the Numbers Afloat)
• Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries
• Support month-end close and financial reporting
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies (because “close enough” isn’t your style)
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions
• Help maintain consistency across multiple entities
• Manage full-cycle AP using Bill.com
• Ensure invoices are coded, approved, and paid on time
• Communicate with vendors and keep things running smoothly
Help Us Build What’s Next
• Identify ways to improve processes and workflows
• Support future ERP and system implementation efforts
Who You Are
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required, but equivalent degrees/experience may also be considered)
• 3+ years of hands-on accounting experience
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Detail-oriented, organized, and naturally curious
• Able to manage multiple priorities without losing track of the details
• Comfortable working remotely while staying connected and engaged
Bonus points if you:
• Have used multiple accounting systems or been part of an ERP implementation
• Love the boating/marina lifestyle (not required - but we won’t lie, it’s fun to talk about)
A Quick Test (Don’t Skip This)
Attention to detail matters here, both in accounting and in this application. So when you apply, include a brief answer to this question:
If you could name a boat, what would you name it - and why?
Final Thought
This role can be:
• A launchpad for your accounting career, or
• A steady, detail-focused role where you can settle in and thrive.
Either way, if you’re someone who:
• Takes pride in getting things right
• Enjoys being part of a supportive team
• And wants to grow with a company that’s building something special…
We’d love to meet you.
