Staff Accountant

California Closets is a leader in premium space management, delivering custom-designed organizational solutions. The Accountant will contribute to the month-end close process, prepare financial statements, and assist with various accounting functions to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to month end close process to ensure timely and accurate financial data is in compliance with GAAP
• Review monthly financial statements of multiple entities to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Prepare month end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Research variances in key account balances and explain variances between actuals and budget
• Assist with shared service accounting functions including general ledger accounting, corporate accounting, intercompany, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, etc
• Learn and assist in training and implementation of our ERP system
• Ensure compliance with established company policies and procedures and incorporate procedural improvements to optimize efficiency
• Create ad-hoc financial reports and data analysis as required to support business objectives
• Assist with annual financial and internal control audits
• Provide on-going support to various business partners

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with minimum of 1 year of applicable experience
• CPA candidate highly preferred
• Public accounting audit experience preferred
• Working knowledge of fully integrated ERP systems
• In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Strong PC skills with proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• CPA candidate highly preferred
• Public accounting audit experience preferred
