The Role: Senior Staff Data Scientist
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Staff Data Scientist to join our growing team of analytical experts. As a Senior Staff Data Scientist at arenaflex, you will serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert. You'll be responsible for driving analytical strategies that inform product development, business decisions, and technological innovations. What You'll Do
Your responsibilities will span across multiple domains, requiring you to blend technical excellence with business acumen. Here's what you can expect:
- Strategic Analysis: Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and clarify business questions that need answering. You'll translate complex business challenges into tractable analytical frameworks, evaluation metrics, and mathematical models that drive decision-making.
- Data Infrastructure & Modeling: Leverage our custom data infrastructure and existing data models to design and evaluate solutions. You'll apply specialized knowledge to mathematically define and solve problems with limited precedent, creating novel approaches to novel challenges.
- Data Acquisition & Processing: Gather data from multiple sources, understanding business needs, priorities, and organizational context. You'll work with both current and emerging data infrastructure to extract, compile, and prepare data for analysis.
- Independent Analysis: Own the entire process of data collection, extraction, and compilation. Utilize tools such as SQL, R, and Python to format, re-shape, and validate data. Ensure data quality and prepare datasets for rigorous analysis.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to junior team members and collaborate with engineers and product managers across multiple projects. Mentor others in best practices for statistical analysis and data science methodologies.
- Innovation: Push the boundaries of what's possible with data science at arenaflex. Identify opportunities for new analytical approaches, machine learning applications, and automation that can scale across the organization.
What We're Looking For
We need someone who thrives in ambiguous environments and loves turning complex problems into elegant solutions. The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
- 10 years of professional experience using analytics to solve product or business problems
- Proficiency in coding languages such as Python, R, or SQL
- Experience with database querying and statistical analysis
- OR 8 years of work experience with a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12 years of experience using analytics to solve complex product or business challenges
- Advanced proficiency in multiple programming languages (Python, R, SQL)
- Ph.D. degree with 10 years of relevant experience
- Experience with large-scale distributed computing systems
- Background in machine learning and artificial intelligence applications
- Proven track record of publishing research or contributing to academic literature
- Experience in leading cross-functional analytical projects
Skills & Competencies

Compensation & Benefits

- Competitive Base Salary: The US base salary range for this position is $216,000-$317,000, commensurate with experience and location.
