Position Overview
We're currently seeking a skilled and motivated Big Data Analyst to work remotely and help drive our data initiatives forward. This is a mid-level internal consultant role responsible for driving the end-to-end lifecycle of data management across various platforms, handling diverse volumes, varieties, and velocities of data. You'll be instrumental in understanding complex business problems and translating business requirements into robust data solutions.
As a Big Data Analyst at arenaflex, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to enable model deployment, implement and maintain model accuracy, and monitor data pipelines. Key Responsibilities
- Lead Complex Data Integration Projects: Drive complex self-service data integration projects that consolidate data from disparate sources, making it readily accessible to business users including data scientists, analysts, and insight-driven stakeholders.
- Advanced Data Solutions: Lead informal teams in applying advanced data integration methodologies and tools to large datasets, creating solutions that can be utilized for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Drive engagement with functional leaders across multiple simultaneous initiatives, ensuring alignment and successful project delivery.
- Solution Definition & Communication: Lead the definition and communication of solutions and decisions, translating technical concepts into business-friendly language.
- Data Asset Management: Serve as a knowledgeable authority for data assets and monitor the ongoing effectiveness of data assets being utilized by business users in self-service environments.
- Community Development: Support the continuous advancement of arenaflex's data science center of excellence and community, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Data Acquisition & Analysis: Obtain data from various sources and perform thorough data analysis to derive meaningful insights that drive business decisions.
- Business Translation: Understand complex business problems and assist in translating business requirements into comprehensive data needs.
- Additional Duties: May perform other work responsibilities as directed by the employee's supervisors, adapting to evolving business needs and priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.uğ
- Experience Level: Mid-level experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or related fields.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of both inductive and deductive reasoning and problem-solving approaches.
- Analytical Skills: Intermediate knowledge in evaluating and applying appropriate data analysis and statistical methodology for business issues.
- Database Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of acquiring and consuming data in both relational and non-SQL databases.
- Data Processing: Intermediate knowledge of integrating, storing, and processing large volumes of data necessary for analysis and modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience in the transportation, airline, or hospitality industry.
- Previous experience working with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with big data frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
- Experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies.
- Certifications in relevant data analytics or data science tools.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Programming Expertise: Proficient in at least one data programming language (such as Python, R, or Scala) and open-source tools.
- Integration Tools: Proficient in at least one data integration and business intelligence tool (such as Apache NiFi, Talend, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms).
- Technology Platforms: Skilled in technology platforms and frameworks relevant to developing and maintaining self-service data assets.
- Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Project Management: Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in a compelling manner with strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Adaptability: Capacity to adapt well to different situations and modify approaches/philosophies as necessary to effectively and efficiently meet objectives.
- Collaboration: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and disciplines.
