Los Angeles County Department of Human Resources is seeking a Payroll Specialist to provide payroll support within the Accounting and Budget Development Division. The role involves performing specialized and technical duties related to payroll processing to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Provide payroll support within the Accounting and Budget Development Division
- Perform a variety of specialized and technical duties related to payroll and system related functions and activities to assure County Office employees are paid in an accurate and timely manner
Skills
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- One year of payroll processing experience and the utilization of automated business systems
- Knowledge of federal and state statutes, codes, laws, regulations, bargaining labor agreements, policies and procedures related to payroll processing, time reporting, personnel assignments, deduction control, and payroll accounting
- Input and data retrieval procedures for payroll databases and computerized systems
- Filing and record-keeping systems (e.g., UKG, Red Rover) and techniques for physical and electronic document management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office applications
- Critical Thinking – Analytically and logically evaluating information, propositions, and claims
- Mathematical Facility – Performing computations and solving mathematical problems
- Legal & Regulatory Navigation – Understanding, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations
