We are seeking an experienced Mechanical or Materials Engineer to support our EO/IR seeker and precision munitions products and related technologies. If selected, you will be part of the Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Team supporting a large production program in the Franchise Program Portfolio – a major piece of our Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions product line. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a materials and processes expert in a robust PMP program supporting a multi million-dollar franchise production program.
Collaborate closely with the customer, other government agencies, and cross-functional teams to resolve supply chain issues, review, improve, and document PMP activities, and ensure compliance to contractual obligations.
Support periodic audits of suppliers’ facilities and processes.
Provide technical assessments to Material Review Boards (MRBs) to resolve non-conformances.
Skillfully present detailed technical information to internal and external customers with confidence.
Participate in RCCA and CAR/SCAR activities as needed.
Manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Mentor more junior engineers and actively contribute to knowledge-sharing culture.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science or related discipline
Minimum of eight years of relevant experience in related industry (i.e. defense, electronics) or six years plus a Master’s Degree
Knowledge of mechanical fabrication techniques and processes
Knowledge/familiarity with special processes such as passivation, anodize, prime and paint, plating, and heat treatment
Experience with the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies
Proficiency in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), MES (Manufacturing Execution System), Quality Management System (QMS), and MS Office software
Clear communication – both oral and written – and a positive attitude
Ability to work remotely as part of larger team
Knowledge of common military and industry specifications and standards (MIL, ASTM, etc.)
Experience collaborating with and managing suppliers
Knowledge of and experience with raw materials and their governing specifications
Prior experience in Design Engineering role, especially on cooled and uncooled infrared optical systems
Prior experience in Quality or Supplier Quality organizations; familiarity with SAE AS9100 and AS9102. Knowledge of QMS requirements.
Experience with guided and unguided munitions, including support of test events at customer sites
Experience with bearings, gimbals, dewars, cameras, motors and resolvers
Hands-on experience with thermal, vibration, and shock environmental testing per MIL-STD-810
Eligibility to obtain a DoD Security Clearance at the “secret” level
