Organizational Development and Indigenous Engagement Research Intern - Sudbury

Compensation: $39,130 per year

Science North runs Canada’s 2nd and 8th largest science centres and have bases of operation in Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Sault Ste. Marie. Science North is currently seeking an Organizational Development and Indigenous Engagement Research Intern to help support initiatives that strengthen organizational diversity and enhance our ability to attract and engage Indigenous applicants and employees.

In this role, the intern will assist in evaluating current Human Resources practices and assist in developing strategies to help make Science North an even more welcoming and inclusive workplace, specifically for Indigenous candidates. The position will contribute to organizational development initiatives focused on improving recruitment practices and reducing barriers that Indigenous applicants may encounter.

The intern will review and analyze existing recruitment processes at Science North and explore opportunities to strengthen them. This may include assessing job descriptions, qualification criteria, and other aspects of the hiring process that could impact accessibility and inclusion for Indigenous applicants.

Recognizing that building a welcoming workplace requires balancing Indigenous cultural perspectives with existing Western organizational practices, the intern will help identify thoughtful approaches and methodologies to support this goal.

This internship provides an opportunity to develop transferable professional skills commonly used in the non-profit sector, including research and data analysis related to Indigenous employment and external best practices; Human Resources and talent management; strategy development and report writing; and presenting findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
