MOVEMENT FOR BLACK LIVES

The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) is an ecosystem of organizations and individuals creating a shared vision and strategy to win rights, control and resources for Black people. Building on the legacy and strategies of past movements, the Movement for Black Lives has created a broad political home for Black organizers, activists, and their organizations. Our ecosystem is held together by politics of abolition, anti-capitalism and radical Black Queer Feminisms, and a value system that fights for the most marginalized amongst us.

M4BL ORGANIZING DEPARTMENT

The Organizing Department cultivates and engages our membership in the development and execution of power-building strategies aimed at advancing our collective vision of Black liberation. We have ambitious goals across our tables aimed at issues such as ending the carceral state, advancing reproductive freedom, electoral justice, and trans justice, in order to secure the freedom, equality, ability to prosper, and humanity of all people.

Our department manages membership, conducts analysis, crafts paradigm-shifting campaigns,  and situates M4BL to support Black-led organizations and impact on the local and regional levels. We achieve this through leadership development, capacity building, organizing initiatives, and campaigns. We are issue experts, community organizers, campaign strategists, program managers, and more. We serve as the home base for our members and are tasked with thoughtfully creating the infrastructure to support them while ensuring that we practice deep democracy in our internal governance.

We partner across the M4BL ecosystem to drive national efforts, support, and amplify the priorities of our members. We work to center principles of anti-capitalism, queer Black feminism, and abolition in our approach.
