Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Information Researcher – Real World Evidence (RWE) who will be responsible for generating high-quality Real World Evidence through advanced research methodologies and innovative approaches in the clinical trials space. This role is an integral part of our Scientific Issues group and offers the unique opportunity to work at the forefront of healthcare data science.
The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for influencing decision-making through the use of innovative data science and technology. In this position, you will conduct sophisticated data analysis to help address critical business questions and contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies that benefit patients, healthcare providers, and our pharmaceutical partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Mining and Preparation: Mine raw datasets to deliver normalized, analysis-ready patient cohorts from in-house data resources or licensed platforms, ensuring data quality and integrity for downstream analytical work.
- Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze and interpret complex results from real-world data sources, translating statistical findings into actionable insights that inform clinical and business strategies.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with members of the arenaflex Clinical Trial team to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and diverse data sources to support biopharmaceutical RWE and clinical trial requests.
- Research Initiatives: Contribute to research initiatives including analysis of unmet medical needs, safety and efficacy of treatments in specific disease states, treatment patterns, healthcare economic burden, and cost-effectiveness modeling.
- Data Management: Clean, transform, and store data into a structured data lake architecture for future analysis and broader team utilization, ensuring accessibility and usability of data assets.
- Statistical Analysis: Perform data mining and advanced statistical analysis to analyze RWE/real-world data (RWD) to discover new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes.
- Capability Development: Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities, applying advanced analytical tools and techniques to address scientific inquiries from biopharmaceutical organizations.
- Research Design: Collaborate on the design and execution of outcomes research studies, ensuring methodological rigor and statistical validity.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure high-quality, thorough, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE reviews and investigations, maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity.
- Reporting and Visualization: Build dashboards, analyses, and comprehensive reports for both internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating complex findings in accessible formats.
- Vendor Evaluation: Conduct due diligence on new real-world data providers and vendors, driving RWD quality assessments to inform investment decisions and partnership opportunities.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Statistical Expertise: Proven experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical investigations in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data.
- Statistical Techniques: Strong knowledge of common statistical testing methodologies including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis.
- Large Data Handling: Demonstrated experience processing large-scale datasets from multiple data sources, with the ability to manage, clean, and transform high-volume information effectively.
- Protected Health Information: Experience handling sensitive patient health information with strict adherence to privacy regulations and data protection standards.
- Business Intelligence Tools: Proficiency in at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization platforms.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to approach complex questions with creative analytical solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Degree: PhD or Master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- Healthcare Data Experience: Expertise in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Health IT systems, disease registries, and insurance claims databases.
- Clinical Data Standards: Proficiency in clinical data standards, clinical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD-9/10, ReadCode, SNOMED CT).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory compliance guidelines for real-world evidence studies or clinical trials (e.g., ISO standards, Medical Device Directive/Regulation, CFR Title 21).
- Alternative Data Sources: Experience working with alternative data sources and innovative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms and digital health solutions.
- Advanced Statistical Methods: Understanding of experimental design, Bayesian modeling, sequential analysis, and computational statistics.
- Machine Learning: Strong foundation in statistics and machine learning methodologies, with the ability to continuously self-learn both technical and non-technical skills.
