What You'll Do
As a Data Center Technician at arenaflex, you'll play a critical role in maintaining our enterprise-level server infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:
- Hardware Installation and Configuration: Install and configure enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure with precision and attention to detail.
- Hardware Break/Fix Replacement: Perform Field Replaceable Unit (FRU) replacements to ensure maximum uptime and system reliability.
- Rack Installation: Install racks in data center locations, manage cabling, perform power-up procedures, and hand off servers to internal provisioning teams.
- Telecommunications Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve Telco Availability issues to maintain seamless connectivity.
- Network Switch Management: Troubleshoot and replace network switch hardware as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work within a tagging environment that is utilized and governed by various internal cloud service owners and teams.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all activities and create/modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Structured Cabling: Handle naming, troubleshooting, and management of fiber, copper, and telecommunications links.
- Power Systems: Install, repair, and maintain system power supplies and cabling infrastructure.
- Project Execution: Execute small projects independently and collaborate with management on planning and executing larger local projects.
- Asset Management: Maintain asset inventory and update applications as necessary to ensure accurate tracking.
- Emergency Response: Be available via phone and capable of handling on-site emergencies as they arise.
- Training and Development: Participate in training programs that align with corporate objectives to address skill gaps and acquire new valuable technologies.
- SLA Compliance: Act within Service Level Agreements (SLAs) on tickets assigned to your area of responsibility.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you'll need to meet the following requirements:
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of server, storage, and network equipment fundamentals.
- Eagerness to Learn: Strong interest in learning new data center concepts and staying current with industry trends.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Shift Availability: Willingness to work a 4-day-per-week, 10-hour shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of working in an IT environment with hands-on experience.
- Troubleshooting Expertise: Proven experience handling issues on servers, networking devices, and IT hardware.
- Inventory Management: Experience in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and delivering server parts.
- On-Call Availability: Experience accepting on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
- Issue Escalation: Experience raising issues to senior on-site staff and management as appropriate.
- IT Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with RAID, SAN, SCSI, Linux/Unix, and GRUB concepts.
- Trunk System Knowledge: Understanding of trunk systems is a plus.
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications will give you an edge:
- 2-year or 4-year degree in a related field OR 3 years of relevant experience.
- 1 year of experience in structured cabling (copper/fiber), cable testing, cooling, and electrical systems concepts within data center environments.
- Experience with Prophet Cloud Framework and similar platforms.
- Certifications in data center operations, networking, or cloud technologies.

Compensation and Benefits

- Annual Salary: $35,000 - $40,000 per year (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
