As a Data Center Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of these critical facilities. This position reports directly to senior leadership and offers substantial visibility across the organization. We are looking for a leader who brings not only deep technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems but also proven experience in people management, budget oversight, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will have a track record of building and developing high-performing teams, driving automation initiatives, and consistently delivering operational excellence in complex, 24x7 environments. As the Data Center Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the overall strategic and tactical management of our data center engineering operations in the Florida region. This includes ensuring and supporting safety, security, availability, cost management, risk assessment and mitigation, audit remediation, and preventive maintenance of critical infrastructure. You will own metric reporting and continuously identify opportunities for improvement across all operational areas. A key aspect of this role involves serving as the ambassador for safety within your teams and promoting safe work practices across the region. You will manage a team of data center engineering operations professionals, encompassing all aspects of people management, performance, scheduling, and technical leadership. You will ensure effective and efficient management of daily data center engineering operations while continuously improving operational workflows and mitigating risks. You will serve as a subject matter expert in the data centers' mechanical, electrical, and control systems, providing technical guidance and direction to your team and cross-functional partners. Ensuring that all operational KPIs and metrics are being measured and met will be a critical responsibility, and you will play a major role in the development and driving of automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention. The ideal candidate is passionate about the quality and quantity of services and continuously strives to improve the client experience. You will manage large-scale events or outages, oversee on-call rotations, and handle escalations with composure and expertise. Vendor management for colocation facilities will also fall under your purview, requiring strong negotiation and relationship management skills. Ensuring that our data centers comply with all relevant safety and security policies and procedures is paramount. You will oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure, ensuring that all work performed within these spaces is completed to the highest quality standards and without impact on internal or external clients. You will participate in ongoing projects, often requiring engagement with a variety of support teams, and drive them from inception to completion. Coordination with third-party vendors is a regular responsibility, ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs. You will effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures, demonstrating strong financial acumen and resource allocation skills. This role regularly works as the overnight on-call Data Center Manager for the facilities in the region, responding to any issues and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of problems. You will provide support for climate events, planned outages, and unplanned outages, demonstrating resilience and operational readiness at all times. Additionally, you will research and write technical documents to drive change and document lessons learned within the business, contributing to our continuous improvement culture. The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent work experience in the Mechanical/Electrical field. You will bring at least 6 years of experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports, 2 years of experience managing managers, and 10 years of experience working in critical infrastructure operations. This combination of education and experience ensures that you have the foundational knowledge and leadership skills necessary to succeed in this role. A deep understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations is essential, including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units. You must have a proven history of managing and developing teams, with the ability to solve problems at their root by stepping back to understand the broader context. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to maintain SLAs through proactive issue detection and reporting. You must be capable of following exact and complete maintenance procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries. Good judgment and instincts in leadership direction are essential, as is the ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environments. You should proactively and continuously improve your level of knowledge about arenaflex's business and relevant technologies, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development. The ability to take ownership of issues brought to you by your client base is critical, and if you cannot resolve specific issues yourself, you should be willing to actively engage other support teams to drive the issue to resolution. Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications are preferred, although a four-year degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline is also acceptable.
