What You'll Do

As a Data Scientist on our Analytics team, you will serve as a critical bridge between data and decision-making. Your work will directly influence strategic initiatives and operational excellence across the entire organization. Here's what you can expect in this role:

• Drive Data-Informed Decision Making: Collaborate with teams across Platforms and Services to guide them toward better decision-making using available data. You will help stakeholders understand what the numbers mean and how they should inform their strategies.
• Champion Data Literacy: Advance data and insights by managing communications with partners and other teams. You will work collaboratively to complete data projects and ensure all parties can leverage insights to improve their work continuously.
• Be a Trusted Advisor: Maintain a client-driven focus while becoming a subject matter expert in your domain. You will develop trust among peers and ensure that teams and projects have access to the data they need to make informed decisions.
• Navigate Ambiguity: Manage ambiguous issues and adapt tools to address complex questions. You will be comfortable working in gray areas and developing creative solutions to novel problems.
• Balance Speed and Quality: Identify the trade-offs between speed and quality for different approaches. You will help teams understand when to move fast and when to invest in more thorough analysis.
• Build Measurement Frameworks: Create analytical frameworks to measure team success by working with teams to establish success metrics, develop approaches to track data and analyze errors, and measure and evaluate information to develop a common language for all partners to understand these metrics.
• Operationalize Data Processes: Implement data processes that provide partners with ad-hoc analysis, automated dashboards, and self-service reporting tools. Your work will ensure everyone has a fair view of the business state and can access the insights they need.
• Support Business Analysis Vision: Assist in developing the vision for business analysis and solutions engineering for data-related business constructs, as well as tactical execution including exploratory analysis and campaign performance reporting.
• Instrumentation and Reporting: Lead data instrumentation, dashboard and report building, metrics reviews, and inform team projects. Provide guidance on success/failure metrics and deliver ad-hoc analysis as needed.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with both technical and non-technical staff members throughout the organization. Your work will impact many partners across the company, making communication and relationship-building skills essential.

Essential Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need a strong foundation in data analysis and business intelligence. We are looking for candidates who bring:

• Proven Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of domain experience in a consumer web business, or in a fast-paced, high-growth product or team environment. You should be comfortable operating in dynamic settings where priorities may shift quickly.
• Technical Expertise: Expert-level SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work with large datasets. Proficiency in Python or R is required for data manipulation, statistical analysis, and visualization.
• Data-Driven Mindset: Demonstrated experience using data to create insights and drive measurable business results. You should have a track record of translating analytical findings into actionable recommendations.
• Analytical Capabilities: Familiarity with data analysis and communication, including time series analysis, experimentation (A/B testing), data visualization best practices, and defining KPI strategies for your business area.
• Collaboration Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain productive relationships across teams. You must be able to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related discipline.
