Position Overview: Corporate Accountant
arenaflex is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Corporate Accountant to join our dynamic Corporate Bookkeeping team. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work from our Los Angeles office while collaborating with team members across multiple locations. In this role, you will play a critical part in representing our General and Regulatory functions, as well as managing our corporate credit card and travel programs.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and possess the drive to implement workflow improvements that achieve scale and efficiency. You will build strong relationships with a diverse group of cross-functional partners, making meaningful contributions to arenaflex's financial operations and reporting accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
As a Corporate Accountant at arenaflex, you will be entrusted with essential duties that directly impact our financial integrity and operational excellence. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Owning the Month-End Close Cycle: Take full ownership of the monthly close process, including comprehensive review of prepaid expenses, accruals, and business ledgers to ensure the accuracy of financial statements under US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Journal Entry Management: Handle the recording of journal entries, including complex intercompany entries, with precision and attention to detail. Ensure all entries are properly documented, supported, and reconcile with underlying records.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations to verify the accuracy and completeness of all account balances. Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly while maintaining proper audit trails.
- Budget vs. Actual Analysis: Conduct detailed budget versus actual variance reviews, providing meaningful insights into financial performance and highlighting areas requiring management attention.
- Trend Analysis: Perform trend analysis on financial data to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for operational improvement. Present findings in a clear, actionable manner.
- Smart Close Packages: Prepare comprehensive close packages that effectively summarize key business and accounting trends for management review. Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and timely.
- Process Improvement Initiatives: Drive continuous improvement efforts and automate manual workflows to achieve greater efficiency and scalability. Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and implementing best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Represent Corporate Accounting in cross-functional interactions with various departments including Strategic Planning & Analysis (SP&A), Financial Applications, Travel and Expense, Treasury Operations, Tax, and regional accounting partners. Support these teams in gathering required information for local reporting and compliance purposes.
- Compliance Support: Assist in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements. Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and explanations as required.
Required Qualifications
To succeed in this role at arenaflex, candidates must meet the following essential requirements:
- Professional Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of relevant accounting experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, or a similar financial role.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) is essential. You must be familiar with accounting standards and their practical application in financial reporting.
- Time Management: Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment. You should be comfortable working under pressure while maintaining accuracy.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail are critical for this role. You must be able to identify errors and inconsistencies while maintaining high-quality work.
- Process Improvement Experience: Proven track record of implementing workflow improvements and driving operational efficiencies. Experience with process automation is a significant plus.

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Entertainment Industry Experience: Prior experience working in the entertainment, media, or streaming industry is highly desirable.
- ERP System Proficiency: Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, particularly SAP, Oracle, or similar financial platforms.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas. Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
- International Accounting Experience: Understanding of international accounting practices and experience working with global teams or multi-currency environments.
