Job Summary

The Analytics Director (AD) is a working manager who is ultimately responsible for Health Catalyst client’s analytic success.  The AD provides analytic continuity at the client through all phases of deployment, implements and promotes Catalyst methodologies, and acts in the long-term best interest of the client. 

The AD manages client expectations and timelines for deliverables. The AD has the ability to navigate difficult client conversations with professionalism. The AD successfully guides a team of Analytics Engineers to deliver all analytic aspects of the customer’s engagement.

For each Health Catalyst (HC) client, the AD will partner with a Senior Director of Client Engagement (or equivalent).  This pairing will provide client-facing leadership, acting as ambassadors for Heath Catalyst.  The AD supports and collaborates with the Sr. Director in key areas, including strategic planning around deployment, communication on the status of deployments to client senior management and knowledge transfer and training on HC platform and technologies.  The AD may further support the Sr. Director through presentations to client executive management. 

The AD role is a highly visible and influential role.  ADs interface and collaborates with a variety of HC roles (such as engagement coordinators, product line managers, clinical staff, etc.) on an as needed basis to support optimal deployment applications. The Analytics Director is focused on understanding and anticipating customer opportunity through the use of data.  This role requires up to 35% travel.

What you'll own in this role:                   

Strategy development and execution – Working with the Sr. Director of Client Engagement, develop execution path to best leverage resources to deliver projects on time. Participate in project planning, coordinating, training and communicating with the client. Serve as the client’s main point of contact and guide on all analytic activity, including assignment of tasks and projects to the respective clients. Active participation in the work (e.g., involved in day-to-day software and application installations, SQL development and data base design and architecture). Facilitate meetings between Catalyst internal product line teams and the client.

Risk assessment and mitigation – Partner with Sr. Director to proactively identify roadblocks interfering with project deliverables and provide viable solutions to keep project on track. Troubleshoot issues and communicate risks. Diplomatically address concerns and establish and promote a transparent environment for problem understanding and resolution.  Help develop strategy to address client needs.

Project status communication – Clearly articulate to executive sponsorship teams’ status of project and provide insight to any additional support needed for a viable success of the implementation. Participate in relevant internal meetings, providing feedback on processes and strategic operations issues. Provide feedback on clients to Catalyst leadership. 

Knowledge transfer and training – Guide, provide, or oversee training of client staff with HC platform, applications and methodologies in support of process improvement.  Ensure knowledge transfer to client around deployment positions client for long-term success with HC platform and applications.

Managing tasks and people – Ensure team members have the appropriate resources, education, skills and tools to be successful with assigned tasks. Maintain workload balance among team members and knowledge providers, to facilitate pragmatic innovation. Fulfill people-management responsibilities, including conducting effective regular one-on-ones with direct reports, mentoring new team members and grooming future ADs.
